Regardless of variety, All unopened Critical Care packets undergo shelf-life testing to ensure they remain stable and effective until they reach the “best by” date printed on the package.Â
- Note: Oxbow has not performed any testing on the efficacy, stability or safety of any of our Critical Care varieties utilized past their expiration date or stored in a manner other than directed (i.e. frozen/thawed). Therefore, we cannot guarantee any product stored/utilized in this manner.Â
We cannot formally recommend freezing any of our Critical Care varieties to prolong shelf-life. It is also important to note that frequent thawing and refreezing of the product can increase the risk of condensation forming on the inside of the packet, thereby increasing the risk of mold formation. Prolonged freezing or frequent thaw/freeze cycles can also result in vitamin degradation.Â
- Oxbow feels strongly that it is essential for pet parents to work in conjunction with a trusted veterinarian in any instance Critical Care is warranted. Even in times when animals will need to be on this product life-long, we still suggest working closely with a veterinarian for ongoing dosing changes based on the ever-changing status of the pet. Â
- Oxbow currently directly distributes all of our Critical Care varieties through our veterinary wholesale and distribution partners. If you see any Critical Care product on Amazon, Jet.com, Walmart.com, etc. it has been taken out of its normal distributor channel by a 3rd party seller. We strongly encourage you to purchase this specialized product from your veterinarian who has access to the most direct and reliable source. Â
