Oxbow Animal Health Announces 2015 Academic Scholarship Winners

Murdock, NE, May 11, 2015 -- Oxbow Animal Health, a leader in the innovative care and nutrition of small and exotic animals worldwide, has announced the recipients of its 2015 Academic Scholarships.  The Oxbow Academic Scholarships award annual financial support to five outstanding students pursuing education in the exotic and companion animal veterinary fields.

Oxbow scholarship winners are chosen for interest and involvement in the field of exotic animal health, excellence in the areas of academic achievement, and expression of future career goals and interests.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

  • Brianna Sander - Waverly High School (Waverly, NE)
    • Nebraska High School Scholarship
  •  Dakota Palacio - North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC)
    • Undergraduate Academic Scholarship
  •  Savannah Glass - International Business College Vet Tech Institute (Indianapolis, IN)
    • Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship
  •  Amber Spinuzzi - University of Nevada: Reno (Reno, NV)
    • Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship
  •  Therese Gavin - Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine (College Station, TX)
    • Veterinary Medicine Academic Scholarship

"I cannot even begin to express my immense gratitude and appreciation toward Oxbow for their support and encouragement,” said Therese Gavin, current veterinary student at Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine and recipient of this year’s Veterinary Medicine Academic Scholarship.  “Like Oxbow, I have a great passion for exotic animal medicine, and this scholarship will allow me to continue to focus on maximizing my educational experience during my final clinical year at Texas A&M CVM.  I am honored to be recognized by such an amazing company that shares my devotion to exotic animal health."

Dakota Palacio, recipient of this year’s Undergraduate Academic Scholarship, discussed how the Oxbow scholarship would help her achieve future goals when expressing her gratitude for the scholarship.  “Animals have been one of the most influential parts of my life and I believe that, as extensions of our families, they deserve wonderful care,” said Palacio, a student at North Carolina State University.  “The Oxbow Animal Health Scholarship will help me to continue my journey at North Carolina State University to pursue my dreams of becoming a veterinarian.   My heart is filled with gratitude, and I am very excited about the future. Thank you, Oxbow, for helping me chase my dreams!”
